This weekend BYEP will host the Billy Poole Memorial Foundation. Billy was a Pro Skier and Lover of Life. His friends, mostly professional skiers come to Bozeman to spend the weekend shredding with youth participants in BYEP. We are going to have a lot of fun!

Wow.

This past weekend BYEP in collaboration with the Billy Poole Memorial Foundation hosted 15 professional skiers/snowboarders at Big Sky Resort. The 48 kids in our program were STOKED to get to shred with the guys and gals covering the glossy pages of our favorite magazines.

Thanks to all the pros and bros that made the weekend rock!

Winter 2009 Under Way! On 11/20/08 we hosted a mentor training where 24 amazing volunteers learned the BYEP Way (i.e., policy and procedures, the secret handshake, etc.). This winter we will provide 48 scholarships to our adventure-based group mentoring programs. Youth from Bozeman and Belgrade will learn how to Snowboard/Ski and about themselves. With snow in the hills we are excited to get out and SHRED!

With just two weeks to go until our annual fundraiser, Spring Run Off, our board of directors finds themselves running 'wild' tracking down donations and selling tickets to the event. Click here to check out the live auction items then contact us via our website to purchase a ticket!

Last week we held graduation ceremonies to commemorate the 40 graduates and 24 volunteer mentors that successfully completed our winter SnowSports programs - a big thank you goes out to Big Sky Resort whom donated lift tickets for all the kids and mentors this year.

We are now accepting both youth and mentor applications for our summer 2008 programs. This summer we will be whitewater rafting, rock climbing, horseback riding, fly fishing, and participating in a ropes course challenge. Contact us via our website to apply.

Gear Distribution Day a Success!

This past weekend we managed to outfit all 48 of the youth that will be participating in our winter programs with snowboard and ski gear. Thanks to the generosity of our corporate gear sponsors (i.e., the Quiksilver Foundation, 686, DaKine, Transworld Snowboard Magazine, Freeskier Magazine, and Spy) the kids are ready to rock!

Next weekend we will run our final 'on snow' mentor training and then programs kick off the week of January 14! Pray for Snow!

BYEP is headed into it's 7th season of programs. We are STOKED that we have enrolled a great group of 24 volunteer mentors. We just finished our mentor training. Check out the video below for a quick snap shop of the evening.

We are halfway through our summer programs and our proud to boast that our mentors are not only 'super cool' they give over 150 hours of their time to make the programs we offer youth, Amazing.

Our mentors are 100% volunteer and we often have more people express interest than there is a need. This is a true testament to the amount of outgoing caring adults in our community!

This Year's 'Big Brown Trout' fundraiser will be held on October 8th. There are only 2 boats left. The $1000 per boat fee includes a day of guided fly fishing for two on the Yellowstone River, a gourmet lunch, cocktail hour, presentation, and an amazing dinner at Chico Hot Springs. ANNUAL FUNDRAISER - SPRING RUN OFF 2007 - BEST TO DATE!

On May 4th, 2007 we held our 5th annual fundraiser. Thanks to the huge community support here in Bozeman, Montana we had our most successful fundraiser to date. We doubled our gross income from the previous year and were able to secure 3 Suburbans which we will use for safe transportation of the youth to and from the ski hills next year.

Our first week of Winter 2007 programing is complete. This week's topic for the life skillz curricula was COMMUNICATION! Mentors and youth participated in a series of activities that brought 'what we do most' to light. Whether it is verbal or nonverbal, aggressive, assertive, or passive. If you want to be heard you better know how to do it.

This weekend 40 youth that have been enrolled into our program and 20 mentors will go snowboarding and skiing at Big Sky Resort and Bridger Bowl Montana.

Throughout the winter we will be posting interviews of the youth and mentors.

Snowsports programs kick off with Gear Distribution day!

On Jan, 13 and 14th 2007 we provided 40 teenage participants with all the gear necessary to enjoy the next 11 weekends of snowboarding and skiing (that's almost $30,000 in gear that was given out)!

Our programs ofically start tomorrow night and we will be shredding at Big Sky and Bridger Bowl next weekend.
